Word
Word is a word possessor that has many
different types of functions. These functions can be used for manipulating
images to cropping them, resizing them, adding filters, changing the image
resolution, rotating the image and adding text to the image. Word is a useful
way for beginners to manipulating images. When you have gained more experience
with Adobe Photoshop that is the software package you would use for manipulating
images.
Photoshop
Photoshop is a software graphic package
that is used for manipulating/creating images. Adobe Photoshop is not a free
software package you would have to pay for this and it’s for people with more
experience in the graphic industry. If you are looking for a free software
package and don’t have much experience with manipulating/creating images you
would use Pic Monkey which you find online.

Canvas Size
|
The canvas size is just an A4 page,
you only have one option size to choose from which is cm.

Canvas size is the size of the image
and if that’s not large enough they can change the size of the canvas. When
changing the canvas size you have 7 different options to choose from.

Saving options
|
When saving the image the image is
saved in the document making the image save limited.
|
When saving the image Photoshop
allows you to choose from many different formats such as JPEG, BMP and GIF
etc.

Colour adjustments
|
In word it allows you to change from
dark varieties to light varieties and you can select already made colour
adjustments or create your own.

In Photoshop it allows you to change
the colour from 6 different options e.g. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Red Green and
Blue.

Filters
|
In word it allows you to select 4
different filter options such as black + white, Washout, Sepia and Grayscale.

In Photoshop there are so many
different filter options. It has drop down menus for the different filters.

Cropping
|
Word allows you to crop images
easily by clicking the image, then tab changes to format and you select the
cropping tool.

The cropping tool is a lot easier to
find in Photoshop as it is always on the toolbar all you have to do is click
on it.

Image resolution
|
Word is limited to the image
resolution as in word you can’t change it.
|
In Photoshop you can change the
image resolution which makes the pixels more prominent because they are
resized.

Text Manipulation
|
In word it allows you to change the
text size, colour, style and font format. The only way to move text in Word
is by putting it in a textbox.

In Photoshop it allows you to change
the position of the text easily, change colour, size, font format and style.

Selecting Objects
|
In Word when you click the image
that is the image selected. There is not much more you can other than
grouping the images/shapes.
|
In Photoshop there is much more of a
variety when selecting the image. You can select the whole image or different
parts of the image using the Lasso tool and the quick selection tool.
